‘Next Level Indians’ shine bright in spring at college level

 
 

Former Tallulah Falls School athletes continue to impress long after they finish at the prep level. This spring, several saw significant game action at the college level. FULL LIST OF NEXT LEVEL INDIANS

Chathan Clouatre ’21 – Toccoa Falls College Baseball

Clouatre saw his way into 48 games, starting 37 times for the Eagles of Toccoa Falls as a true freshman. The catcher batted .195, collecting 24 hits along the way. That included his first career collegiate homerun, and he had 16 RBI along with two doubles, 12 walks, and 11 hit by pitches. Clouatre also had three stolen bases. He also got time on the mound, recording three appearances and 4.2 innings of work. He struck out three batters in that span. He had a .944 fielding percentage. Toccoa Falls was 16-36 overall.

 

Katy Corbett ’21 – Mercer University Beach Volleyball

Corbett achieved a lot of success quickly for Mercer University in the sand. Though the program went just 7-27 in 2022, Corbett and her teammates were often playing against schools that were much larger.  Corbett and her partner Jordan Morris defeated Stephen F. Austin 21-18, 23-21 and Eastern Kentucky 21-19, 21-9 in the ASUN Tournament. Corbett collected five match wins throughout the year over teams from Eastern Kentucky, SF Austin, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville University, and Nebraska.

 

 

 

 

 

Anna Davis ’18 – Davidson College Track & Field

Davis capped off her collegiate career with solid performances. The former TFS state champion was the top hurdler at Davidson. She had a 14.17 season-best time in the 100 meter hurdles and a 59.12 in the 400 meter hurdles. She was also a pivotal part of the 4x400 relay team that posted a season-best 3:44. At the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships, she finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the 400 meter hurdles. The 4x400 relay team finished as conference runner-up. This season, Davis posted 17 top-5 finishes, and a total of 20 top-10s. Davis qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet, representing Davidson for a second straight year. Davis was 31st in the 400 M hurdles with a 1:00.01 time.

 

 

 

 

Brinson Hall ’21 – Troy University Golf

Hall has competed in three tournaments in the 2021-22 season at Troy. She has totaled nine rounds of golf, and her stroke count was 761. That was good for an 84.55 average, with her lowest round being a 77. Troy finished fifth in the Sun Belt Championships.

 

 

 

 

 

Maggie Jackson ’21 – Wofford College Golf

Jackson totaled 30 rounds on the links in the 2021-22 season, with a stroke count of 2,302. Her average through 18 is 76.73, with putting up a career-best 71. Her best positioning overall was an 11th-place finish. Wofford finished as runner-up in the Southern Conference Championships.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Simeon Respress ’21 – Anderson University Track & Field

Respress had a sensational freshman season, setting a school record for Anderson University in the long jump (7.16 meters). In nine meets over the course of the season, Respress competed in the long jump, high jump, 100-meter dash, and the 60-meter dash, as well as the 4x100 relay. He had 18 top-10 finishes, and six top-5 finishes. At the 2022 SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, he finished 10th in the 4x100 relay, seventh in the long jump, and sixth in the high jump.
