Girls win, boys fall against Habersham

The TFS MS tennis teams squared off with Habersham on Tuesday afternoon, with the boys falling in a tight 3-2 battle, while the girls came out on the winning side with a 3-2 win of their own.

The girls earned wins at #1 and #2 singles with Madison Phillips and Agnes Hogan grabbing wins, respectively. The #2 doubles combo of Steffi Siebert and Catherine Harris also netted a win. The boys fell 3-2, as Elijah Pinney won at #3 singles and #1 doubles with Jackson Davis and Christian David.

"Tough close loss for the boys," says coach Anthony Cox. "We knew every match could go either way, and we weren't able to close it out. Overall, they are a tough team we may see in the tournament. Girls with a big-time victory. Steffi [Siebert] and Catherine [Harris] were the last match on and came back from being down 0-4 to win for the ladies."

The girls are now 4-4 overall and 3-1 in league matches, while the boys move to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in league play. The teams take the court Thursday at Macon County in a league match.
