TFS coaches name Indians of the Week

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for October 1-6.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Sixth-grader Haygen James of Demorest was named an Indian of the Week by cross country coach Scott Neal. “Haygen hit the ground running this season, always practicing and competing with purpose while displaying GREAT character,” said Neal. “She defeated two opponents at the Tri-State championship that had run faster than her in the previous four encounters, placing third. She followed that personal record (PR) race two days later with another best time at the Mountain Invite, placing in the top 28% of the 327 harriers. Haygen finished the season with the team’s best 3K time.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Eighth-grader Morgan Messer of Clayton was selected as an Indian of the Week by soccer coach Travis Mullis.  “Morgan is a hard-working player who dedicates himself to whatever benefits the team,” said Mullis. “As a student, Morgan is a quick learner but is willing to stop and ask concise questions when he needs help. As a person, he is respectful and kind, ready to offer a hand to anyone in need. We are grateful for his positive attitude and strong work ethic.”

VARSITY GIRL

Junior Santy Dembele of Tampa, Florida was named an Indian of the Week by volleyball coach Matt Heyl. “Santy has continued to improve every day throughout the season,” said Heyl. “Even as a first-year player she has been instrumental in helping our team to a winning record. Her blocking ability has been far beyond what I could have ever imagined.  Last week her spiking took a giant leap as she provided the team with some much needed extra offense as we head into tournament time.”

VARSITY BOY

Sophomore Sammy Davis, Jr. of the Bahamas was selected as an Indian of the Week by soccer coach Brett Adams. “Netting four goals in three games makes an impression on contest results,” said Adams. “While observing player tendencies, we made a tactical adjustment pulling Sammy from a defensive anchor position on the back line and giving him a run as our lone striker up top. His vision of play, strength on the ball, composure in front of the net and set-up play for his teammates capture a striker’s role perfectly. Sammy maintains a soft touch on the ball while playing with strength and intelligence. His offensive performance fully deserves a respected nod.”
