Residential Experience

RESIDENTIAL LIFE DORMS

Two dormitories - one for boys and another for girls - are located on the north side of campus, just a short walk to the academic building and sports fields. Each dormitory is staffed by degreed, professional, caring adults with two dormitory counselors living on each floor.

TFS dormitories feature large rooms with ample storage and shared hall bathrooms. Two to three students share rooms that include comfortable twin beds, locking closets, expansive windows with charming views, desk space, and additional storage in the form of nightstands and small dressers. Common rooms provide areas for students to gather.

Many families are excited about our work program that helps students develop personal responsibility. Every nine weeks on a rotating schedule, students complete a different assignment around the dormitory. From taking out the trash to sweeping the floors, our work program instills community pride in students.

What to bring to the dorms

RESIDENTIAL LIFE STAFF

Our residential life staff provides guidance and support for a well-balanced lifestyle. They serve as mentors, mediators, advisors, nurses, seamstresses, teachers, friends, and parents. Whether studying, leading, sewing, cooking, cleaning, relaxing, learning to stand up for themselves and make good decisions – they are there with them.

“Being a dorm counselor Is welcoming kids on their first day and being lucky enough to see them grow, and after a couple years, saying goodbye to them – but now as young adults ready to conquer the world. We always want to bring out the best of them, and they always bring out the best of us. Because we live, we love, we learn from each other, and as the time goes by, without noticing we’re all becoming the best version of ourselves.” -Karen Martinez

THRIVING IN LIFE

Our residential life program fosters a vibrant community through a strong support network. From residential staff and nurses to counselors, faculty, coaches, dining hall personnel, security, and maintenance crews, everyone at Tallulah Falls School is dedicated to engaging and encouraging our students from day one.

With abundant opportunities for leadership, character development, academic achievement, athletic success, creativity, and personal growth, we cultivate an environment where everyone encourages one another. Together, we create a thriving community where each student can reach their fullest potential.

RESIDENTIAL LIFE OPPORTUNITIES

Our program is led by our students and guided by our staff. Through our committees, student’s voices are represented, and when they are represented – they feel safe and confident. When students feel safe, they can thrive in their community.

Student Life Assistant (SLA) Program: A badge of honor, the SLA program is highly selective and led by four student leaders from each dormitory. They assist the resident life staff in numerous ways, and they are pivotal in leading the work program.

The Dining Hall Committee is a dedicated group of students who collaborate with the school's chefs to influence and enhance the dining experience for the entire boarding community.

International Liaison is a highly selective and sought-after position. The liaison works to promote an inclusive community atmosphere. They support international students' integration into the community by helping them navigate cultural differences, assisting with language barriers, and organizing events that celebrate global diversity.

The Tribal Council, a prestigious group of selected boarding students, serves as the voice of the boarding community. Their advocacy for their peers and their proactive approach to addressing concerns or suggestions to enhance dorm life have a lasting impact on the community.

RESIDENTIAL LIFE ACTIVITIES

Students love our annual tubing trip, roller skating night, the local fair, Christmas tree lighting, the weekend at Y Camp, and our special graduation for dorm students.

“I loved going to the Braves game. We don’t have baseball in Poland. It was exciting to see the game and be at a big event. People were so loud, cheering on the players. They had amazing fireworks after the game, it was the best part.” -Asia Molodynska, Poland

Our academic program is packed with experiential learning opportunities, including our Mid-mester Experience, which takes students on trips worldwide. Learn more about those trips here
