TFS coaches name Indians of the Week
Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected Indian Athletes of the Week for Sept. 30-Oct. 5.
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL
Eighth-grader Annabelle Jackson of Alto was named an Indian of the Week by middle school tennis coach Lisa Wilcox. “Annabelle is a true champion,” Wilcox said. “She played in the deciding match against Banks County for the championship. She was down most of the match but stayed focused. Annabelle played efficiently, playing one point-at-a-time and won the tiebreak giving her team the win with a 3-2 score. She has left a huge legacy for the TFS middle school girls tennis team.”
MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY
Seventh-grader Jackson Cording of Clarkesville was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school soccer coach Travis Mullis. “Having trained diligently last year and throughout the preseason, Jackson played a vital role at right back during most matches this season,” Mullis said. “He had to learn several techniques to benefit the team, but Jackson did so with humility and grace. In the championship match, his wisdom in play and toughness greatly benefited the team in their win against Rabun Gap-Nachoochee School.”
VARSITY GIRL
Senior Laurel Smith of Clayton was named an Indian of the Week by cross country coach Scott Neal. “Besides running a season-best at the Runners Fit Mountain Invite at Unicoi State Park, senior team leader Laurel Smith was the lead coordinator for the team’s annual camp out,” Neal said. “Site and food selection, camping gear, set up and the myriad of logistics structure for significant team bonding is something for which Laurel has proven to be quite adept. She is respected and appreciated by her peers, has been a stable force on the team and utilizes her special skill sets with a strong sense of empathy and service to make an important impact upon the team.”
VARSITY BOY
Senior Chris Geiger of Sautee Nacoochee was selected as an Indian of the Week by cross country coach Scott Neal. “Chris ran a personal record 17:54.70 at the Runners Fit Mountain Invite at Unicoi State Park to move into the top five on the TFS cross country legacy list,” Neal said. “Chris has improved significantly through training and mental toughness, inspiring others on the team with his ability and determination to finish strong.”
