State Championship Preview: Precision Rifle
Everything Tallulah Falls has accomplished this season has all led up to this Saturday, March 16. The 14-0, Area Champions will take on a talented and crowded field in the GHSA Riflery State Championship.
Senior leaders Brianna Walter, Joseph McGahee, and Leah Rogers, along with juniors Kylee Loudermilk and Chloe Erwin will all compete. The top-4 scores count toward the team's score. The top eight individual shooters will then advance to the individual finals.
Through the state playoff bracket to this point, only two teams have matched or exceeded the 1158 TFS put up last match. That would be East Coweta (1160) and Camden County (1163). That puts Tallulah Falls right there among the favorites for a state championship.
TFS has a 14-0 record on the season, won the Area Championship, and appears to be peaking at the right time after the semifinals win against Kendrick. Prior to that, TFS beat Paulding County with an 1136.
The athletes will get 20 shots at each of three positions: prone, standing, kneeling. The highest 3x20 team score for Tallulah Falls came back in December when the top-4 combined for a 2312.
