Rifle teams sets new record, earns State Runner-Up finish
An incredible performance by Tallulah Falls on Saturday in Ware County resulted in a State Runner-Up finish. The Precision Rifle team shot a 2328, 16 points better than the previous school record. Camden County won with a 2338.
Camden is a 7A program, and East Cowetta (3rd Place) was also 7A.
Brianna Walter fired a 590, while fellow senior Leah Rogers had a 581. Junior Chloe Erwin shot a 579, and senior Joseph McGahee had a 578. Junior Kylee Loudermilk had a 577.
It’s significant that each of Tallulah's five shooters were in the top-20. That's spectacular as no other team did that with 93 of the state's best shooters.
Walter went to the finals individually, and shot a 590 to place 5th. That marks the best individual finish in TFS history in Precision Rifle at the State Championships.
The team Runner-Up finish is one of only three Tallulah Falls teams to ever win state or finish as Runner-Up. The 2022 volleyball team won the State Championship while the 2021 girls golf team was Runner-Up.
