A dozen TFS student-athletes honored at annual Next Level Signing Ceremony
On May 23, 12 Tallulah Falls seniors were honored as part of the 2024 Next Level Signing Ceremony. The event offered each signee a chance to share with those in attendance their feelings about the opportunity. Respective coaches were also able to speak about each signee.
Those recognized include: Adrijana Albijanic, Austin Ball, Makhi Edgecombe, Ariel Kelsick, Sam Ketch, Henry Rickman, Iva Ristic, Julianne Shirley, Caden Walker, Brianna Walter, Ashlyn Yaskiewicz, and Skylyn Yaskiewicz. A few others may make a decision in the coming weeks. Below is info on each signee, as well as a video of each coach/player speech at the signing ceremony.
ALBIJANIC (MONTENEGRO) WAS NAMED ALL-REGION HONORABLE MENTION, AVERAGING 2.7 POINTS AND 6.3 REBOUNDS FROM THE POST POSITION DURING HER SENIOR YEAR. VIDEO
BALL (TIGER, GA) WAS NAMED BACK-TO-BACK REGION PLAYER OF THE YEAR, AND LEAVES TFS AS THE ALL-TIME (86) AND SINGLE-SEASON (39) GOALS LEADER, AS WELL AS in ALL-TIME (48) AND SINGLE-SEASON (16) ASSISTS. HE HAD 15 CAREER HAT TRICKS, INCLUDING 9 IN A SINGLE SEASON. HE LED THE INDIANS TO 49 WINS, BACK-TO-BACK REGION TITLES, 4 PLAYOFF RUNS, AND 2 SWEET 16S. VIDEO
EDGECOMBE (NASSAU, BAHAMAS) HELPED THE INDIANS TO A REGION RUNNER-UP FINISH IN 2024. THE THROWER EXCELLED IN DISCUS AND SHOT PUT DURING HIS TIME AT TFS. VIDEO
KELSICK (ST. GEORGE, ANTIGUA) EXCELLED IN HER 2 YEARS AT TFS, GARNERING BACK-TO-BACK REGION SINGLES PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARDS WHILE LEADING THE LADY INDIANS TO A 32-2 RECORD WITH CONSECUTIVE REGION TITLES AND A SWEET 16 ALONG WITH AN ELITE 8 APPEARANCE. KELSICK FINISHED WITH A SCHOOL RECORD 30 SINGLES WINS. VIDEO
KETCH (CLARKESVILLE, GA) IS ONE OF THE TOP THROWERS IN SCHOOL HISTORY. HE GUIDED THE INDIANS TO A REGION RUNNER-UP FINISH AND 12TH-PLACE FINISH AT STATE. HE IS A 3-TIME REGION CHAMP (2X DISCUS, SHOT PUT), AND IS A STATE RUNNER-UP (DISCUS, ‘24), AND PLACED 3RD IN SHOT PUT (‘24) AND DISCUS (‘23) TO HAVE MULTIPLE PODIUM FINISHES. HIS 162’10 DISCUS THROW AT STATE IS A SCHOOL RECORD. VIDEO
RICKMAN (TIGER, GA) LED THE INDIANS TO AN 8TH-PLACE FINISH AT STATE IN 2023-24, AND WAS NAMED ALL-STATE 2ND TEAM BY GHSSCA. HE QUALIFIED FOR MULTIPLE INDIVIDUAL EVENTS AT STATE, AND WAS PART OF THE BOYS 3RD-PLACE FINISH IN THE 200 MEDLEY RELAY, AND WAS PART OF THE 400 FREE RELAY (6TH PLACE) AND 200 FREE RELAY (8TH). VIDEO
RISTIC (SERBIA) WAS PART OF THE GIRLS SOCCER PROGRAM’S FIRST-EVER REGION CHAMPIONSHIP. THE MIDFIELDER FINISHED WITH 2 GOALS AND AN ASSIST. A MULTI-SPORT ATHLETE, SHE WAS ALSO PART OF THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE AREA CHAMPIONSHIP VOLLEYBALL TEAM THAT SECURED A THIRD STRAIGHT 30-WIN SEASON. RISTIC PLAYED AS A LIBERO AND AS A DEFENSIVE SPECIALIST. SHE HAD 79 DIGS, 15 ASSISTS, AND 3 KILLS IN 2023. VIDEO
SHIRLEY (CLARKESVILLE, GA) IS A 2-TIME STATE CHAMPION, WINNING A TITLE AS A CONTRIBUTING PLAYER FROM THE 2022 VOLLEYBALL TEAM, AND ALSO IN TRACK AND FIELD AS PART OF THE 2023 4X400 RELAY TEAM, WHICH SET A RECORD OF 4:07.70 IN THE PROCESS. SHIRLEY WAS ALSO PART OF THE RECORD-SETTING 4X200 RELAY GROUP (1:47.57). SHIRLEY WAS 3RD AT STATE IN THE HIGH JUMP IN 2024 AND 3RD IN THE 400 IN 2023, AS WELL AS PLACING 5TH IN THE 2023 HIGH JUMP. SHE WON 3 INDIVIDUAL REGION TITLES (TWICE IN THE 400, ONCE IN THE HIGH JUMP). VIDEO
WALKER (NASSAU, BAHAMAS) HAD A STELLAR SEASON IN 2024, AS THE 1ST TEAM ALL-REGION CATCHER WAS A KEY REASON FOR THE STATE RUNNER-UP FINISH FOR THE RECORD-SETTING INDIANS. HE HIT .327 WITH 2 HOMERUNS, 15 RBI, 33 RUNS, AND 4 DOUBLES AS PART OF 32 HITS. HE HAD 15 BB AND A SCHOOL-RECORD 22 HIT-BY-PITCHES TO HELP HIM TO A FANTASTIC .511 OBP. HIS .989 FIELDING PERCENTAGE BEHIND THE PLATE IS A KEY FACTOR FOR THE SPECIAL RUN IN 2024. VIDEO
WALTER (SUGAR HILL, GA) BROKE THE SCHOOL RECORD SEVERAL TIMES IN THE 3X10 AND 3X20 MATCH. SHE OWNS THE TOP SCORE IN STANDING AND KNEELING IN BOTH 3X10 AND 3X20, AND HER 298 IN THE 3X10 IS A RECORD. SHE HOLDS THE TOP 9 3X10 SCORES IN TFS HISTORY AFTER JUST ONE SEASON. SHE HAS THE TOP 2 3X20 MARKS, AND GUIDED TFS TO A STATE RUNNER-UP FINISH IN 2024. SHE IS A NATIONAL JUNIOR OLYMPIC QUALIFIER, AND PLACED 5TH INDIVIDUALLY AT STATE WHILE ALSO SHOOTING A 624 (60-SHOT STANDING) AT THE 18U OLYMPIC QUALIFIER IN COLORADO, PLACING HER 27TH OVERALL AND 1ST IN 18U IN THE COUNTRY. YASKIEWICZ (SKY VALLEY, GA) WAS A 2ND TEAM ALL-AREA SELECTION IN 2023 WITH 115 KILLS, 103 DIGS, 30 ACES, 5 BLOCKS, AND 5 ASSISTS. ALSO A 2022 ALL-AREA HONORABLE MENTION, SHE WAS A KEY PART OF THE 2022 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM, AS WELL AS HELPING TFS TO BACK-TO-BACK AREA TITLES. VIDEO
YASKIEWICZ (SKY VALLEY, GA) WAS AN ALL-AREA HONORABLE MENTION, POSTING 58 DIGS, 40 ACES, 35 KILLS, 20 ASSISTS, AND 11.5 BLOCKS IN 2023, AND WAS A KEY PLAYER ON THE 2022 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM, AS WELL AS HELPING TFS TO BACK-TO-BACK AREA TITLES. VIDEO
