TFS coaches name Indians of the Week for April 22-27
Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for April 22-27.
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL
Seventh-grader Ellie Southards of Dillard was named an Indian of the Week by middle school track & field coach Scott Neal. “Ellie threw the discus and shot put well beyond her opponents at the Tri-State Conference championships,” Neal said. “She also placed second in the 100m and helped both winning relays add points to the overall girls' championship. Ellie broke TFS Hall of Honor Legacy member Destinee Johnson’s 2006 record in the discus with a throw of 84’-3”. That distance ranks her in the top 2-percent of seventh graders in the ga.milesplit rankings. her 32’ -1 1/2” throw of the 6-pound shot earlier in the season ranks her in the top 3-percent. Ellie is a team-first athlete, a fierce competitor and a role model of GREAT character.”
MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY
Seventh-grader Sam Ketch of Clarkesville was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school track & field coach Scott Neal. “Sam improved over three feet in the shot put and over 30 feet in the discus over the course of the season,” Neal said. “He placed third in the shot and second in the discus at the recent Tri-State track & field championships. Sam ranks in the top 16-percent of his grade in the state in the discus and in the top quarter of seventh-grade shot putters. He works diligently to improve his throwing technique while learning more about his events.”
VARSITY GIRL
Freshman Caroline Ball of Tiger was named an Indian of the Week by varsity girls soccer coach Whitney Calloway. “Caroline always has a smile on her face and a great attitude,” Calloway said. “She pushes herself to do her best in everything we do. Even when she wasn’t feeling well she improved her mile time by 15 seconds. Last week in our game against Rabun Gap-Nacoochee she worked tirelessly to mark up on defense, even when she was moved to a position she had never played. Her hard work and upbeat attitude have greatly benefited the team this season.”
VARSITY BOY
Senior Ajani McIntosh was selected as an Indian of the Week by varsity track & field coach Scott Neal. “Ajani has trained consistently all season, been a positive team leader,” Neal said. “He led off the 4x1 relay in the Area 2A-Private track & field championship preliminaries and achieved a season-best No. 5 TFS Legacy List time. Ajani focuses on the task at hand, is oblivious to distractions that curtail many others and is a student of his events. He is quick to adapt, try new strategies or independently hold onto that which strengthens. Ajani is a prime example of a significant contributor to the positive process of preparing for success. We are proud of his track & field career as well as his academic prowess.”
