JV volleyball falls in opening action
The Tallulah Falls School junior varsity volleyball team opened the 2020 season with a pair of losses at Habersham Central. The girls fought hard in dropping matches to the host school and White County.
In the first match against White County, TFS went down in straight sets. Sophomores Chloe Kahwach and Layne Kafsky led the team with sharp serving that gave the Lady Indians a five point lead at the end of the second set. Despite a great effort in serving, the girls couldn't close out the second set and lost 23-25.
Habersham Central won the second match in straight sets as well, as TFS lost 15-25 and 17-25.
"Pass control and defensive transition were the areas where the girls struggled the most," said coach Matt Crotta. "Freshman libero Reese Wilson offered some help in receiving and passing some difficult serves, but it wasn't enough to tip the match in favor of TFS. Carol Dunlap and Marissa Gergeni did a great job covering the floor and giving hitters some good sets."
The Lady Indians are 0-2 now on the season, and return to play at home on Thursday against Cherokee Bluff.
