Indians of the Week for week ending February 13
The Indians of the Week are chosen by coaches, and recognize student-athletes that play sports that are currently in season. This week's Indians of the Week (for the week of February 8-13) include Annabelle Jackson and Simeon Respress for high school, and Meredith Orr and Chase Pollock for middle school (both girl selections for this week). PAST INDIANS OF THE WEEK
Annabelle Jackson - Tennis
High School Girl
Annabelle Jackson started the season at the number 13 position on the depth chart. Knowing the top 7 players on the chart play varsity matches, she worked extremely hard to challenge her way to the number 7 overall position on the Lady Indians varsity team. She is well-liked by her team and is always extremely respectful to her coaches. Congratulations Annabelle for the well-deserved honor as IOW.
-coach Randy Morris
Simeon Respress - Basketball
High School Boy
Simeon Respress helped lead the Indians in an important semi-finals region tournament win Saturday night. Throughout the game, Simeon played excellent defense, accumulating numerous steals and deflections. Additionally, Simeon also led the team in scoring with 20 points. His final basket took place on the last play of the contest. Tied at 57, Simeon hit a shot at the buzzer to win the game in regulation. The victory puts the team in the region tournament finals Wednesday night.
-coach Cody Coleman
Meredith Orr - Soccer
Middle School Girl
Meredith has been a joy to follow over the last two years. Last year she began playing soccer as a practice team player only. She came back to soccer again this season and has continued day by day to get braver and stronger on the field. She is a GREAT example of how hard work, perseverance, and overcoming fear can lead to success. The team and I can’t wait to see her play in her first game. Keep up the good work, Meredith!
-coach Laura Higbie
Chase Pollock - Baseball
Middle School Boy
Chase had an outstanding week of practice. He led by example with an intensity that will be needed in order to have a successful year. As an eighth grader, he displayed leadership qualities that will hopefully become contagious among his classmates.
