Season Preview: Lady Indians soccer brings back exciting core for 2021

2020 proved to be a tease for the TFS Lady Indians soccer team. There were plenty of talented players making big moments through just a couple of games, highlighted by a thrilling 7-6 home win to kick off the season. The girls went 1-1, and enter 2021 looking to improve and hopefully get in a full season.

“We have experienced soccer players at all positions,” states coach Travis Mullis.

The Lady Indians site their experience as a strength coming in. Despite losing left back Abby Peacock to graduation, who Mullis says was a strong leader who set an example of great character, the girls have a talented group coming back.

Key returning players include juniors Honora Kahwach and Kat Williams, as well as sophomore forward Addie Higbie. Seniors Sydney Coffee and Fendi JeanLouis will be instrumental, as they are the senior captains on the team.

“We are focused on continuing to develop a ‘tradition’ by encouraging team unity and chemistry,” adds Mullis.

The Lady Indians’ 2021 schedule includes seven home matches, including five straight to close out the regular season. The expectations are high for this team, and Mullis doesn’t shy away from that.

“I expect the 2021 team to be competitive in the new region,” says Mullis. “With experienced players at all positions, it's only a matter of time before success is found.”

The season kicks off on February 2 at Stephens County, with the initial home match slated for March 3 against Rabun County. An exciting new addition for the boys and girls soccer teams are new LED lights on The Amick Athletic Field, allowing for night games for the first time in TFS history.
