Boys teams split against Rabun at home
CHAZ MULLIS - The JV squad continued their winning streak while the varsity team took a narrow loss on Thursday night against Rabun County.
JV
The JV Indians were able to power through a staunch Rabun defense to pick up yet another win. The team pulled ahead in the first half with Rabun trailing close behind at 28-22, but was able to put some distance between the Wildcats towards the end with a score of 69-52 at the buzzer.
Diego Crotta led the team with 19 points during the game, followed close behind by Gavin Page with 17 points. Other contributors included Lincoln Hall with 13 points and Colton Hicks with 10 points. The JV team is now 13-0 and will play their final game against Athens Academy at home on Friday.
Varsity
The varsity Indians took a tough loss against the Wildcats. Rabun gained control of the first half up 25-15 at halftime. The Indians briefly took the lead at the end of the third quarter 33-31, but Rabun caught back up with a final score of 55-44.
The highest scorer for the Indians during the matchup was Sammy Davis, cultivating 15 points. Gabe Keene and Anfernee Hanna both added 13 points to the total. The varsity squad is currently 13-4 in their season and will host Athens Academy at home on Friday.
