Indians open season with 6-2 win at Stephens
The TFS varsity boys soccer team scored a flurry of goals in the season opener at Class 3A Stephens County, taking a 6-2 win. The Indians went off for five first half goals, taking a 5-nil lead into the break. The win had added importance as it was the first game in the GHSA era for the boys program.
"We worked very hard across the board," says coach Jeremy Stille. "It was a great defensive effort to keep the shutout until late into the second half. Midfielders put in a tough shift against much larger and more physical opponents."
Senior Max Farris tallied three goals and three assists, notching a hat trick in the first half alone. Freshman Austin Ball recorded a pair of goals and added two assists. Junior Trevor Bramlett notched the team's sixth goal and the only one in the second half.
"Overall, great start to the season," says Stille. "But there are always areas to improve and we will continue to better ourselves."
The Indians are 1-0 on the young season, and return to the pitch on Monday, February 8 at Athens Academy.
