Indians blank Lakeview to get back on winning track

The MS soccer team posted a clean sheet with a 5-0 win on Thursday at Lakeview Academy, with both KC Respress and Nick Edenfield sharing the shutout in goal.

"When Lakeview took the field, they liked big," says coach Chris Kafsky. "However with no one to turn to but each other, the boys responded with a lockdown defense led by Koen Eller. With a solid defense, the boys were able to set the tone with unselfish offense using the entirety of the field and a clinic of sharp passing and through balls."

The scoring opened with Clay Kafsky's goal on an assist by Jared Mullis. Jason Bars added a goal before the break to put TFS up 2-0.

"We knew the game would grow more physical in the second half as frustration was increasing from our opponents' inability to penetrate our stout back line," states Kafsky.

Mullis scored a nice goal to start the half, and Jackson Cording scored a goal, coming all the way from the backline to put one away. Respress scored the fifth and final goal of the evening.

"Wins and teams like this are special," says Kafsky. "It took every player, at every position, giving their all with no hope for rest til the final whistle. They knew this from the start and responded til the end. I was very proud of the unselfish and creative offense and the rock-solid defense. Special shout out to Mr. Roberts who organized the offense from the sideline with great input and coaching and prepared the boys well for their match today."

The Indians are now 4-1 overall and return to the pitch on Monday at White County.
