Season Preview: Boys & Girls Golf

It's officially the beginning of a new era for Tallulah Falls golf, as head coach Hannah Satterfield takes over the varsity programs from long-time and now-retired coach Allen Campbell. It's an all-new look for both the boys and girls teams, as the elite duo of Maggie Jackson and Brinson Hall moved on to play at the Division-I level after leaving TFS with a runner-up finish at state last year.

The girls varsity squad last year contained just 3 golfers - Jackson, Hall, and now-junior Hannah Lundy. Lundy will be the anchor of the girls team in 2022, and will lead a group of 4 talented freshmen. Ella Akers, Reagan Duncan, Mallory Higgins, and Madeline Martin move up from the middle school to get their first taste of varsity action.

"After the first week of practice, the girls are excited and ready to work," says Satterfield, who raves about Lundy's leadership. "Hannah is responsible, driven, and leads by example in all she attempts. Along with Hannah, we will be led by a strong class of freshman girls. I have already seen a positive camaraderie between the girls, as this is important for any team. These girls have the enthusiasm and work ethic to perform well this season, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish with this young team."

The boys, meanwhile, are revamped after not being able to field a team last season.

"Coming off a year of low participation for TFS, the boys are looking to rebuild and make a presence in the region," adds Satterfield. "They will be led by junior Canon Brooks. Brooks is very talented skill wise, he is a leader, and carries himself with humility."

Brooks is one of 4 golfers on the roster, and is joined by senior Trevor Bramlett, junior Henry Bowman, and freshman Jedd Thomas.

"The boys are very disciplined in their practice routine and are hungry to improve each area of their game," says Satterfield. "I look forward to seeing how these boys compete this season as we look to compete against established teams in our region."

While the boys open their season on March 7 against Stephens County at the Orchard, the girls will compete in the Lady Wolves Invitational on February 19 at the prestigious Bear's Best. On the 2022 slate are 17 matches for the girls and 14 for the boys. The Area Tournament is scheduled for April 26, and the State Tournament May 15-17.
