TFS Announces New Assistant Academic Dean Jeremy Stille
We are excited to introduce Tallulah Falls School’s new Assistant Academic Dean, Jeremy Stille. Stille will assist with new teacher mentoring, discipline, curriculum alignment and observe teaching methods throughout the school community. He will also facilitate the upper-school mid-mester experience. Stille comes to this position with 11 years of classroom teaching experience, which includes four years as a teacher in the TFS upper school history department. “We are excited to add Jeremy to our administrative team,” said President and Head of School Larry A. Peevy. “He will be a tremendous asset to the TFS community in this position.”
Stille received a specialist degree in leadership from Columbus State University in 2015 and completed the Georgia Independent School Association's emerging leaders program in April of this year. Throughout the spring, Stille met with members of all the departments at TFS in preparation for the position. “I am looking forward to working with the teachers and being able to work on both campuses,” said Stille. "I can serve as a conduit of communication between the middle school and the upper school.”
Stille will assist teachers with their curriculum development, classroom instruction, and pedagogy. “I enjoy talking with teachers about how they engage students and finding innovative ways to keep students motivated, thinking critically, and forming their own understanding of the curriculum.”
Stille also plans to help facilitate connections among teachers to work across disciplines and to open up opportunities for teachers to share pedagogy and ways that they are engaging their students. In addition, Stille plans to implement a new mentor program for new faculty to ease the transition and help them acclimate to the culture and the diverse population at TFS.
Stille will also serve as an advocate for students to ensure that they are seen and heard. He aims to help them find their voice and have buy-in within the TFS community. As part of this, a team of five teachers worked over the summer to bolster regular meetings focused on character education. “Throughout the year, we will concentrate on specific themes that will help to develop the community and the culture of the school,” Stille said. “It will get students involved and help them see that their voices are heard and respected."
Stille believes that as TFS grows, it is essential to develop a community atmosphere where everyone is welcoming and willing to have conversations. “Helping each other becomes the goal,” he said. Academic Dean Kim Popham is excited to see Stille in this new position. “He can provide a tremendous amount of support for teachers and students,” she said. Stille will continue to coach the varsity boys soccer team.
