Indians of the Week: August 7-12
TFS has named the Indians of the Week for the week of August 7-12. This week's selections are Addy McCoy and Josh Lander for high school, and Emmalyn Whisnant and Steven Jackson for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK
ADDY MCCOY - VOLLEYBALL
Addy McCoy has improved every year since she started the program. This year she has come out on fire and her improvement is obvious. Continuing her serving hot streak she totaled over 20 aces in her first week alone. She led the team in blocks and was number two in kills and hitting percentage. Not only that but she was one of the leaders in digs taking on a new role playing the back row to add to our defense and passing. As the leader of our team, Addy did a great job keeping the girls motivated and upbeat on possibly our toughest week of competition for the whole year. -coach Matt Heyl
JOSH LANDER - CROSS COUNTRY
Freshman Josh Lander did not allow a summer medical setback to deter him from doing what he could, stayed focused, dedicated, and disciplined so he would come back even stronger (which he did), and quickly hit the ground running the first week of official cross country practice. Whether volunteering for team responsibilities, encouraging others to do their best, role modeling what to do when experiencing adversity, or gritting out a tough workout, even as a freshman, Josh contributes significantly to the life of the team while inching his way up the varsity leaderboard. A multi-sport athlete, Josh balances a strenuous academic load with a balance of thriving in life outside of sports and studies. -coach Scott Neal
EMMALYN WHISNANT - VOLLEYBALL
Emma has been working extremely hard off season and all summer on improving her volleyball serve and skills. Not only is Emma a wonderful player but a fabulous asset to the team. She is everyone’s cheerleader and pumps everyone up! “Let’s do this ladies!” was her pump up last weekend for our tournament games. Keep it up Emma!! -coach Natasha McEntire
STEVEN JACKSON - CROSS COUNTRY
In the first week of his eighth-grade season, Steven Jackson is already ahead of last season at this time. Resolute in training, mentally stronger, and working toward mental and racing goals with renewed strategy and vigor, Steven is setting the tone for the season with a positive attitude and work ethic! -coach Scott Neal
