TFS Cross Country: More Than Race Results

TFS cross country meets are different. At every meet, the cross country team does something special for the other team. “Runners from the other teams walk away with more than just results from a race,” said senior Dani Prince.

This week, the cross country team hosted the Harrier Harvest. It was senior night for TFS seniors, so all seniors from all teams were celebrated as well. “We made posters with the seniors' names from their team and gave it to them with sunflowers,” said Prince. “When I handed a poster to a team, I heard, 'My name is on the poster - that is my name.' The smallest gesture can leave the biggest impact on others.”

“The other teams like the uniqueness of the meet,” said senior Eli Damron. “We have messages on the course. They run by them and as they run; it gives them a boost of confidence while they are running.” At the end of the Harrier Harvest, winning runners were recognized and given a pie made by TFS families.

Before the run, TFS seniors were recognized. Each senior received a special gift from their teammates during the ceremony. Seniors received their favorite candy, a blanket, a signed picture of the team, and letters from every player on the team. “I’ve waited four years for those letters,” said Prince. The team aims to create a season of significance, not just for themselves, but for everyone that comes to run.
