Swim qualifies for state in five events in opening meet

 
 

In the opening swim meet of the 2023-24 season, Tallulah Falls School had multiple state-qualifying cuts Saturday in the Mask-Erade Invitational at home. Both the varsity boys and girls came in 1st-place in the process.

The state-qualifying cuts came in three relay events and two individual events. Madison Dampier was first in the 100 Fly (59.39) and 100 Back (1:03.48), earning state qualifications. Meanwhile, the girls 200 Medley Relay of Carsyn Griffis, Dampier, Mattie Patterson, and Molly Rickman swam to a 2:04.28 state qualification. The girls 400 Free Relay (Patterson, Adelaide Tatum, Griffis, Dampier) also qualified with a 4:04.39. Both relay teams won their event on Saturday.

The boys 400 Free Relay group of Grayson Penland, David Plaisted, Caden Polley, and Henry Rickman finished first with a 3:41.23 to earn a state qualification as well. The following boys and girls came in the top-3 of their respective events:

  • 200 Medley Relay - 1st 
  • 400 Free Relay - 1st 
  • 200 Free Relay - 2nd

INDIANS

  • Grayson Penland - 1st in 200 Free; 3rd in 50 Free
  • Henry Rickman - 1st in 100 Free; 2nd in 200 Free
  • Caden Polley - 1st in 200 IM; 2nd in 100 Breast
  • Martin Raybon - 1st in 100 Back; 3rd in 200 IM
  • Jack Thomson - 2nd in 100 Back; 3rd in 100 Fly
  • Teagan Penland - 2nd in 500 Free
  • William Xu - 3rd in 100 Free; 3rd in 200 Free
  • 200 Medley Relay - 1st 
  • 400 Free Relay - 1st 

Meanwhile, the MS swim team also competed with several placing in the top-3.
