JV Indians hold on for 7-5 win over Commerce

The JV Indians rolled up a 7-0 lead, then held off a late rally by visiting Commerce on Wednesday for the 7-5 win.

Tallulah Falls got off to a great start with a 4-run first. Wyatt Dorsey had an RBI double, and Justin Smith added a 2-run double moments later. Smith later swiped home for the 4-0 lead. Drew Barron had a run-scoring single in the second, and Dorsey brought in another on an RBI groundout.

Barron was rolling on the mound, as the Indians added another run in the fourth. Going for the complete game, Barron ran into trouble in the seventh by loading the bases before Asa Popham took the mound. A double, single, walk, and two errors later and it was suddenly a 7-4 game with the bases loaded. Commerce got another base hit to score one more, but a runner was thrown out at third to end the contest.

Barron had two hits and two runs along with an RBI and two walks. Dorsey drove in two and scored one, and Smith had a pair of hits, two RBI, and a run scored. Eight different TFS players recorded a hit. Barron earned the win by going 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk against seven strikeouts.

The Indians are now 5-0 on the season.
