TFS Graduate Gisella Welch ('21) Awarded For Her Leadership

TFS graduate Gisella Welch (’21) was among ten female students and three alumnae honored for their leadership by the Women of UNG. University of North Georgia (UNG) faculty, staff, and administrators nominated more than 70 students. A selection committee from the Women of UNG selected the ten finalists who excel in their academics and leadership skills. The women were honored at the eighth annual event, “A Legacy of Leadership.” 

“Receiving the award was a complete surprise,” shared Welch. “It helped me realize the impact I'm making in the lives of students and faculty members.”

During her time at UNG, Welch has been a dedicated student assistant, contributing to the improvement of the Student Success Suite and the Dean Suite. She revamped the mail and supply system inventory, assisted students in finding internships and jobs, and helped students complete PROS -- an online program for building soft skills. She also took charge of planning and executing an entire mock interview event.

Welch will graduate in May with a degree in business management. She has just accepted an offer to work as an administrative manager at CorTrans Logistics in Johns Creek, Georgia. 

Welch sees that her education at TFS allowed her to graduate in three years instead of four. “That is all thanks to the dual enrollment program,” she said. “It was convenient to learn from a teacher I knew personally who was also teaching me college-level material. When I started the first day at college, I wasn’t lost at all.”

In addition, attending the same private college prep school from sixth grade until graduation helped Welch build connections. “I am realizing that networking is everything. My network from TFS has benefited me more than I could have ever realized,” said Welch.
