MS Lady Indians win 1-0, earn Tri-State Championship trip

The MS Lady Indians took a 1-0 win over Rabun Gap at home on Tuesday in the Tri-State Semifinals, earning a trip to the championship match.

It was a 0-0 tie until the 42nd minute. Defender Emily Savage put a beautiful ball up to Stella Radford, who found Ida Patterson. Patterson put it in the net for the game-winner.

"What a game today," exclaims coach Laura Higbie. "We had a hugely supportive home crowd and the girls all played their hearts out. Our starting keeper Elizabeth Hilson didn’t feel well and backup goalie Kristine Malik had an amazing day, keeping a clean sheet. As usual, our defensive team of Emily Savage, Karli Blackwell, Julianna Nail, and Mylah McGugan fended off numerous attempts on goal by Rabun Gap. Their efforts today to put the ball up top to our midfield and offense really made a difference in the game. Midfield players Stella Radford, Sofia Alderfer, Maelyn Carlyle, Nora Mitchell, as well as forwards Ida Patterson, Erin Sweat, Betsey Orr, and Tori Crotta all contributed today to the win. So proud of the entire team and how far we’ve come."

The girls improve to 5-6 on the season.
