JULIANNE SHIRLEY - TRACK & FIELD
Senior Team Captain Julianne Shirley won the Region 8A-D1 high jump and 400m (season best time) and ran the anchor leg on the victorious 4x4 relay and the runner-up 4x2 relay to score 24.5 points, the TFS high. Though Julianne is quite competitive individually, running with her "sisters" is where her joy explodes. She leads positively and with purpose and seeks for everyone to be and do their best! -coach Scott Neal
TEAGAN PENLAND - TRACK & FIELD
Freshman Teagan Penland completed a very difficult quartet of events over the two day Region 8A-D1 Track & Field Championships. He was the Region Runner-Up in the 800m and 3200m, moving up a spot from the pre-meet seed, placed third in the 1600m with a PR, and anchored the 4x8 relay team to third place. He qualified to State Sectional B in all four events while adding 23.5 points to Sam Ketch's 20 region title shot and discus points to help the team earn the runner-up trophy. A three-sport athlete, Teagan trains with purpose, competes with gusto and is a GREAT teammate. -coach Scott Neal
Ida Patterson - Soccer
Since the day she came to the first training, and right up until the last championship match, Ida has given the team 100% effort. Although she was new to the sport and had a quiet demeanor about her, she was very willing to learn and actually scored a goal in our first scrimmage. From that day forward, I knew she’d be the ideal center forward for the team. She asked questions, and then followed through on the coaching advice she was given. She gained more and more confidence and as the season went on and ended up with the most goals scored on the team. Ida has such a coachable attitude and spirit. I am so proud of her for trying a new sport, finding her voice, and be willing to set aside her nervousness to achieve something great for our team and herself. Way to go Ida! -coach Laura Higbie
Morgan Martin - Track & Field
Morgan Martin won the long jump, placed second in the 400m and third in the 200m at the Tri State Track & Field Championship, following up strong performances all season at all of the Tri State meets as well as being competitive at all meets. He ran all of the sprinting events, jumped, and ran on the relays to help the team in any way throughout the season. Morgan focuses in practice and seeks to be a good teammate to others! -coach Scott Neal
