All-Region Baseball: Grant, Bonitatibus headline All-Region recognition

 
 

In the midst of what is easily the best season in program history, the Tallulah Falls Indians hauled in several All-Region honors from Region 8-A DI. TFS is ranked #4 in the state and is in its first-ever Elite 8.

Junior outfielder Danny Grant was named Region Player of the Year, while fellow junior pitcher Cole Bonitatibus earned Pitcher of the Year. Grant has had a record-setting season, batting a team-high .430 with two homeruns, 30 RBI, six doubles, four triples, 39 runs scored, and 28 stolen bases. Bonitatibus has seven wins and two saves to his credit with a 1.19 ERA and 95 strikeouts, which ranks as the best season by a pitcher in TFS history.

Both were 1st Team All-Region selections, and were joined by senior outfielder Chris Waldron (.375 AVG, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 31 R, 26 SB), senior catcher Caden Walker (.289 AVG, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 26 R, 23 SB), and junior Chase Pollock (6 wins, 2 saves, 1.23 ERA, 59 K).

2nd Team All-Region honors went to senior first baseman Gregory Mendez (.297 AVG, 1 HR, 10 RBI), junior shortstop Diego Gonzalez (.308 AVG, 23 RBI), sophomore third baseman Ashton Roache (.291 AVG, 5 HR, 18 RBI), and junior outfielder BJ Carver (.352 AVG, 1 HR, 13 RBI). Junior pitcher Andrew Skvarka (4 wins, 2 saves, 3.82 ERA, 34 K) was an Honorable Mention.
