Indians of the Month: August
TFS has named the Indians of the Week for the month of August. This month's selections are Olivia Henderson and Teagan Penland for the high school, and Tori Crotta and Parker Bryant for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE MONTH
Olivia Henderson - Cross Country
Sophomore Olivia Henderson ran a personal course best 23.10.43 to win the 13th Annual Heroes XC Invite at the TFS Farm course. She set personal 3k and 5k records in early season August races and is presently #7 on the famed TFS XC Legacy List. All of these 2024 early-season accomplishments are a direct result of her summer training and renewed mental vigor to simply do her best while also being a light in the mountains for both her teammates as well as visiting harriers. -coach Scott Neal
Teagan Penland - Cross Country
Sophomore Teagan Penland has been 'en fuego' in cross country this August, each race leading TFS in placing and time. He won the Heroes XC Invite 5k in 17:55.89, his course best and the #2 TFS time for the eight-year-old course. His 17:02 5k PR this season is #5 on the TFS Legacy List. Teagan plays the mental racing game extremely well, knowing each race is a journey and not just a place or time destination. Details matter, so with humility, determination, and discipline, he consistently does the little things like eating well, warming up properly, mobility drills, and ice baths after practice. He is continuing a positive tradition set decades before by the likes of Chris Pic, Mike Wood, Robert Molard, Alex Hubbard, and Evan Prince. -coach Scott Neal
Tori Crotta - Volleyball
Tori Crotta led the team in scoring points with 25 aces and 27 kills over the first 5 regular season matches of the season. -coach Matt Crotta
Parker Bryant - Cross Country
Parker Bryant set a new PR 14:49.70 which was over a minute quicker than his previous PR in our Heroes XC Invite. Parker is a great teammate, listener, dependable helper, and hard worker. Parker has been quick to understand the strategies and pacing of racing and will undoubtedly continue to lower his time. -coach Ty Cox
