MS Indians grab road league win at Macon County
Playing on the road at Macon County on Tuesday, the MS tennis teams earned a split in league action. The Indians secured a 5-0 win, and the Lady Indians dropped a 4-1 decision.
"Really strong outing by our boys to get the SML victory," says coach Anthony Cox. "Top to bottom, really solid play, including a win for Turner [Lander] as Micah's [Smith] partner in his first career match."
The boys won at every line, including at 1-singles in a tight match by Elijah Pinney. Meanwhile, the girls' lone win came at 2-doubles.
"Girls battled and came up just short in a couple of lines," adds Cox. "The victory was within reach, but we'll have to find a way to get in the SML win column Thursday. We are so proud of back-to-back wins for Tae [Hong] and Ruby [Sue Anderson]."
The boys are now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the girls drop to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in league action.
