Indians of the Week: September 30-October 5
TFS has named the Indians of the Week for the week of September 30-October 5. This week's selections are Callie Carver and Oier Linera Mallea for high school, and Lilli Whittle and Jackson Davis for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK
Callie Craver - Softball
In the last week and a half, Callie Craver has pitched 7 games. She quietly does her job on the mound and works hard. She's been the ace of our pitching this season. We appreciate her effort and all that she's done. We look forward to the growth she'll continue to make in the future. Way to go, Callie! -coach Jenny Long
Oier Linera Mallea - Cross Country
Sophomore Oier Linera Mallea ran 1:48 faster than last year on the same Unicoi 5k course to place 123rd of 323 total JV and varsity finishers at the Mountain Invite. Oier typically races as the tie-breaking TFS 6th runner and is moving up the pack. He practices with focus, a growing earned confidence, and a true teamness mentality. Unafraid of success, failure, or discomfort, Oier consistently demonstrates GREAT qualities that help his teammates and him to thrive as a harrier. -coach Scott Neal
Lilli Whittle - Tennis
#2 singles player Lilli Whittle stepped into a singles role this year and has had a big impact on our team’s record. This week, Lilli won her match to send the ladies to the semifinals on Thursday. On Thursday, Lilli was incredibly close to pulling out a win (5-6) before her game was interrupted. She has exhibited confidence and grit in her performances. It has been fun to watch Lilli grow as a tennis player, and we look forward to seeing even more growth in the coming years. -coach Anthony Cox
Jackson Davis - Tennis
After a successful final middle school season, #2 singles player Jackson Davis topped it off by clinching the Mountain League Championship for his team with an 8-4 win. Jackson could have come into this match nervous and tight after losing his other matches to his Habersham opponent earlier in the season. Jackson came ready to play! He played aggressively and with confidence. We look forward to the impact Jackson and his 8th grade teammates will make on our high school program. -coach Anthony Cox
