TFS Students Selected to All-State Chorus

Tallulah Falls School senior Caroline Smith and junior Allison York both of Mount Airy, were selected as members of the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) All-State Chorus. This is one of the highest honors achieved by high school choral students in the state. Students must pass two challenging vocal auditions as they compete against 6,000 talented choral students throughout Georgia. Only 1,200 7th-12th grade students were selected. All-State Chorus members came together on the UGA campus in Athens on February 13-15 for rehearsals and a final concert performance at the conclusion of the weekend.

“I am incredibly proud of Caroline and Allison for their outstanding achievements at All-State Chorus this past weekend,” said music teacher Cailyn Cook. “These two exceptional students are not only leaders in our choral program—serving as student directors for both our A Cappella Club and Select Ensemble—but they are also among the most motivated and dedicated musicians I have had the pleasure of teaching.”

Smith received special recognition as a five-time All-State participant. “All-state is such an incredible experience,” said Smith. “Practicing with amazing directors and meeting people passionate about music fills my spirit. I love connecting with people from all over the state who love chorus as much as I do.”

York has been selected to All-State four times. “The experience allows me to expand my skill set and use my voice in a higher level and more professional setting,” said York.

“Their performance at All-State was nothing short of breathtaking,” said Cook. “I have no doubt they will continue to inspire those around them. We are beyond proud of their accomplishments!”
