MS golf sees seven-stroke improvement with latest match

The middle school golf team competed against Stephens County at The Links at Lake Toccoa on Thursday. Tallulah Falls had a team score of 168, while Stephens County had a team score of 140. The Indians fell short against a talented Stephens County team, but they were able to improve their team score by five strokes compared to their previous score of 173.

Seventh-grader Tate Turpin shot a 50 to earn the low-medalist title for the Indians. He also earned 3rd place overall out of 22 golfers who competed in the match. Tate was followed by Hunter Bell and Kalvin Ngov who both finished the round with a 59.

"Although we fell short, I am proud of the progress we are making as a team," says coach Hannah Satterfield. "I have seen great improvement with every round of golf these kids get to experience. I am also very proud of Tate's performance today as he was able to shave seven strokes off his previous round. Tate has such a great work ethic, and most importantly he loves the game of golf. I am excited for his future in this sport, and I imagine him playing a crucial role when he gets to the high school level."

The TFS golfers are back in action at home on Tuesday in a Tri-State matchup against Summit Charter School at Apple Mountain Golf Course.
