TFS swim excels at Cobb County meet
The TFS varsity and middle school swim teams competed this past Saturday at the Campbell Kickoff in Cobb County, as several swimmers had great showings even amongst higher classifications.
Varsity
Emery Sims, Stevan Durasinovic, Nelson Wilkinson, Grayson Penland, Henry Rickman, and Fryderyk Dabkowski proved their competitive prowess against schools as large as 6 and 7A classifications, according to head coach Rachel Nichols.
Sims, Penland, and Rickman swam to personal bests in their events. Wilkinson swam to two 4th-place finishes in his events. Dabkowski and Durasinovic, who competed as JV, both posted times that would have had them finish in the top-10 in both of their events.
"We are very proud of the exceptional showing these swimmers gave at this competition," adds Nichols.
Middle School
Select middle school swimmers competed in the event as well, and all involved swam personal bests or were right on their personal best time. Swimmers also chose events that they would not have been able to swim with the middle school event schedule such as the 200-yard Individual Medley or the 500-yard Freestyle.
The TFS middle schoolers who competed were: Carsyn Griffis, Molly Rickman, Charlie Harris, Olivia Henderson, Adelaide Tatum, Emily Shoemaker, and Teagan Penland.
"This was also an opportunity for select middle school swimmers to compete exhibition at the varsity level," states Nichols. "This was a great learning experience for all involved. We are very proud of these swimmers for rising to the challenge of longer swims and a higher level of competition."
