Indians of the Week: October 24-29

 
 

TFS has named the Indian of the Week for the week of October 24-29. This week's selections are Sara Bailey and Jorge Lantero de la Osa for high school, and Veronica Verberkmoes and Ethan Phasavang for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Sara Bailey - Cross Country (HS Girl)

Sophomore Sara Bailey ran her personal record 5k time for the season (24:18.22) to place 12th at the Region 8A-D1 Cross Country Championships, held on the infamously tough TFS Farm course. Sara patiently pursued the field, passing one at a time as the race progressed. Her strategy and determination helped the team to place fourth overall and to qualify for state for the third time ever! -coach Scott Neal

Jorge Lantero de la Osa - Cross Country (HS Boy)

Jorge Lantero de la Osa raced to his 5k personal record time of 21:20.52 on the TFS Farm course - considered to be one of the better and tougher courses in the state - to place fourth in the junior varsity division, yet be the #4 TFS boys time on the day. Jorge has improved throughout his first harrier season, and he brings persistence to the overall energy of the team that role models what someone can do when they remain consistent and positive. -coach Scott Neal

Veronica Verberkmoes - Swimming (MS Girl)

Veronica Verberkmoes is our nominee for the MS girls' team. Veronica had phenomenal swims at our first meet of the season. She dropped 3 seconds in her 50-yard freestyle and 17 seconds in her 100-yard freestyle. Her hard work & will to succeed in practice is paying off already! -coach Rachel Nichols

Ethan Phasavang - Basketball (MS Boy)

Ethan has done a great job leading the middle school boys basketball at practice this past week. His leadership skills and ability continues to shine as he leads the offense for the team. Ethan is a great kid with a can-do attitude. He is a relentless worker on both sides of the ball. He is well deserving of this honor. -coach Nathan Stanley
