State Meet Preview: XC

The TFS cross country teams are set for the GHSA State Championships on Friday at Carrollton HS. TFS has both the girls and boys represented. For the Lady Indians, it marks the third consecutive season the entire team made state, this time after a 3rd-place finish at the Region 8-A DI Championships. The Indians are in their fifth straight state meet after grabbing the fourth and final spot from 8-A DI.

The Lady Indians last season finished 12th at the state meet, representing the best finish for them in school history (tied with 2019). Meanwhile, the Indians placed 17th a year ago, and have three top-10 finishes in school history. The most recent was a 9th-place finish in 2019.

Freshmen Avery Keim has been the most consistent front runner for the girls this season, and was the top runner at the region meet. Classmate Olivia Henderson was the next top placer for TFS, and Josie Chesser, Sara Bailey, Dani Prince, Delaney Johnson, and Carsyn Griffis have all been key runners.

For the boys, junior Timothy Beck paced the team at the region meet, and freshman Teagan Penland has been leading the team alongside Beck all season. Jackson Shadburn, Ryan Anderson, Alvaro Garcia Breton, Gavin Simmons, and Jedd Thomas make up the rest of the top runners for the Indians.
