Season Preview: MS Track & Field

The bar is always high for the Tallulah Falls MS track and field teams. Thanks to a Tri-State Championship for the boys and Runner-Up finish for the girls last season, the status quo continues.

The boys saw a massive part of the core leaders move on to the high school - Ryan Anderson, Wyatt Fountain, Cody Loonubon, Brian Neely, William NeSmith, Teagan Penland, Gavin Simmons. However, both Brody Irvin and Caleb Kelly are back after breakout seasons.

“Brody and Caleb split the racing range from 200 to 3200 meters,” says coach Scott Neal. “We have some soccer players who are strong and will help when there are no conflicts.”

“Because it is an inexperienced and young team, it will be fun to watch the significant improvements throughout the season,” adds Neal. “Much of the early season will be learning successful techniques and strategies while gaining specific fitness related to the right events for each of them. Growth, discipline, and fun are the keys!”

The Lady Indians lost LB Kafsky and Megan Prince from the roster as they moved up, but Mary Kate Ball, Gracie Gunter, Gabby Oliver, Ca’Rin Swinton, Linda White, and Mia Kerr will be the key returning talents on what should be a strong team.

“We have a competitive mix of sprinters, jumpers, distance runners, and hurdlers, plus the team has a GREAT attitude that is infectious and influential,” adds Neal.

“This very strong group of young ladies are highly competitive, GREAT teammates, practice heartily, and prepare for success, both collaboratively and individually,” says Neal.

The MS teams will open the season on March 5 at Commerce.
