MS girls drop 6-0 contest at Athens Academy

The MS girls soccer team went to Athens Academy on Thursday and lost 6-0.

After being down 4-0 at the break, the Lady Indians made some adjustments and held the Spartans to just two second half goals.

"They are a very strong, offensively-minded team, and our defense really did well today - Karli Blackwell, Emily, Savage, Mylah, McGugan, and Julianna Nail all played full games," says coach Laura Higbie. "We did have some attacking runs with Nora Mitchell, Erin Sweat, Betsey Orr, Ida Patterson, and Stella Radford leading those. Huge shoutout to Kristine Malik for stepping into the goalkeeper role in the second half. She had reight saves and the team was working well with her. Very proud of her. Tough match but I feel the score still reflects our growth. We improved in the second half and kept them to two goals against. Excited for the three matches we have next week."

The Lady Indians move to 1-4 on the season.
