MS Softball drops opener against Towns County

 
 

The MS softball team opened its season on Monday at home against Towns County.

The Lady Indians surrendered six runs in the first before getting one back in the home half. The visitors added another six in the second to go up 12-1. In the third, that lead reached 14-1. 

In the final at-bat, TFS scored four runs to close out the game, 14-5. Ruby Sue Anderson started and struck out five, and she along with Kristine Malik and Aleigha Jones each scored one run. Evie Purcell scored twice.

Helena Hastie, Emma Davis, Jones, and Kayleigh McEntire each recorded RBIs in the contest.

"We got better as the game went on and learned a lot," says coach Jo Kimbrel.

The Lady Indians are 0-1 on the season.
