MS volleyball wins league championship!

Tallulah Falls MS volleyball ran the table in the season-ending Georgia Middle School Volleyball League Championship on Saturday, claiming its first title since 2015.

The Lady Indians beat Rabun County 25-8, 25-12 to take the first match. That was followed by a 25-22, 25-15 victory against Franklin County. In the championship match, TFS beat Elbert County in a thriller, 19-25, 25-23, 15-11 in a massive comeback win.

"All of our girls played great volleyball," says coach Matt Crotta. "Team spirit, team focus and team effort brought TFS the championship."

Emma Whisnant was sensational, as she had nine aces at her first shot at serve on the day against Rabun.

"This gave us a huge cushion that we maintained thru the first set," adds Crotta. "She finished with 12 aces against Rabun, two against Franklin, and four against Elbert - 18 in total for the day. She also finished the day with 10 kills."

Becca Roberts finished the day with nine aces and 12 kills. Nora Mitchell had eight aces and 10 kills on the day. Tori Crotta had three aces and 13 kills and three blocks, two of which ended sets in Tallulah Falls' favor. McKenzie McCoy added 10 aces.

The comeback against Elbert included bouncing back from down 11-3 in the second set. The girls also mounted a 5-point comeback in the decisive third set.

"The girls reacted well to my timeout talks and dug in both sets to make awesome comebacks," says Crotta. "Very nerve-racking and exciting. It is a game of huge momentum swings and we timed them well. Kind of like riding waves in the ocean. God was kind and sent us some great waves to ride!"

The Lady Indians finish the season with an 11-2 overall record.
