Season Preview: Bass Fishing

The Tallulah Falls School Bass Fishing team is set to begin the 2022-23 season. Once again, the team will compete within the Georgia Bass Nation tournament.

This year's crew consists of six anglers, three high-schoolers and three middle-schoolers. Austin Zigler and KJ Carnes are seniors, and Haygen James returns as a sophomore. At the middle school level, DJ Broome (8th), Shepard Crumley (8th), and Handley James (6th) round out the roster.

The team will compete in five tournaments, the first being November 5 at West Point Lake. The second tournament is slated for December 3 at Lake Lanier, then February 2 at Lake Seminole, March 18 at Lake Hartwell, and lastly on April 15 at Clarks Hill.

Last season, the duo of Broome and prior angler Jack Thomson placed 11th overall in the junior state tournament, and Broome is hoping to once again fall in the top-20. Haygen James and former angler Koen Eller ranked 41st in the state, and James will return in hopes of continuing to excel in the sport.

The combos this season will be team Broome (Broome/Crumley), team Zigler (Zigler/Carnes), and team James (Haygen & Handley). The James team will be competing at the high school level despite Handley being in middle school.
