Tanksley joins elite company as TFS sweeps Lakeview, Stephens
On a night that Chesney Tanksley will never forget, the Lady Indians secured a pair of straight-set victories against Lakeview and Stephens County on the home court. The senior setter entered the night 26 assists shy of 1,000 for her career.
Against Lakeview, Tallulah Falls took control quickly with a 25-17 first set win. A 25-14 second set secured the region match. Tanksley set well, accumulating 15 assists. Margalida Amengual Sanchez had several aces at serve, and Shelby Whisnant continued her impressive run at serve too.
In the Stephens County match, Tallulah Falls went on a huge run after being tied at 5-5. The Lady Indians went on to win 25-6. On the 23rd point of the set, Tanksley lofted a pass to Becca Heyl, who slammed down a spike to secure Tanksley's 1,000th career assist. She entered the night needing 26 to become the third player in school history to get there. The second set was even at 7-7 before Tallulah Falls again pulled away to a 25-12 win.
Tanskley and Heyl connected on eight of Tanksley's assists in the Stephens match. Heyl had one of her better nights yet hitting. Whisnant had a 13-point run at serve as well, making the Lady Indians' offense run with ease. Ca'Rin Swinton was strong at the net, and had some great kills to boot.
#10-ranked TFS is now 18-14 overall and 6-1 in region play.
