Season Recap: MS Volleyball
Bookending the season with victories, the Tallulah Falls MS Lady Indians volleyball team made history with their first league title in nearly a decade. TFS won three matches in a season-opening jamboree in mid August, and by late September, won the final three matches to win the North Georgia MS Volleyball League Championship.
Coach Matt Crotta had a solid group that featured eight eighth-graders who led the charge along with several sixth- and seventh-graders. The team dropped their official season opener against Elbert County, but got revenge a month later to showcase their progress. During the season, the girls had a 5-match win streak, and won six in a row to close out the campaign.
Following three straight wins to close out the regular season at 8-2, TFS then beat Rabun County, Franklin County, and Elbert all in the one-day tournament. The match against the latter required coming back from a one-set deficit, and including a sizeable comeback also in each of the second and third sets. Ultimately, the Lady Indians prevailed to take their first league title since 2015.
In total, Tallulah Falls posted an 11-2 record, while the B-Team went 1-6-3 overall. Of the standout players on the teams, Emma Whisnant, Tori Crotta, Nora Mitchell, Bella Watts, and Becca Roberts were among the team leaders in several categories. Whisnant often led the team particularly at serve.
Crotta, Whisnant, Mitchell, Roberts, Emily Savage, Abigail Cruz, McKenzie McCoy, and Maelyn Carlyle all will move up to the high school level next year, while the other eight roster players will be among those relied on next season.
