Alumni Success Story: Jennifer Jeboda '09

Jennifer Jeboda fondly remembers her days at TFS and the impact that they continue to have on her life. With only 29 students in the class of 2009, Jeboda quickly made friends with her classmates when she arrived as a freshman boarding student from London, England.

“We were a small class – we were tight,” she said. “I have kept in touch with several of my classmates.” And it is more than just keeping in touch – Jeboda will serve as classmate Rachel Gizaw’s maid of honor in Gizaw’s upcoming wedding.

As a boarding student, she looked forward to weekend excursions. “I remember we drove to Tennessee – we always went somewhere on the weekends. We went places I’d never been before and never would have seen,” she said.

Jeboda found her niche in sports. She was a member of the volleyball, basketball, and track and field teams. She still holds the school shot put record.

In the classroom, Jeboda excelled in math and science. “Science prepared me for college. I even had credits when I started,” she said. “I did well in college.”

Jeboda didn’t realize she was also artistic until she took her first art class at TFS. “Doing art at TFS started everything. The classes helped me hone my drawing skills,” said Jeboda.

“Her art always came from a very personal perspective,” said her art teacher, Tina Cheek. “She has a very artistic spirit.”

After graduating from TFS, Jeboda attended Georgia State University. She graduated with a B.S. in biology with a minor in chemistry. Jeboda worked for five years as a CNA before studying for her master's in biomedical science at Morehouse College. From there, she attended Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados.

While Jeboda was studying, her artistic expression appeared in her notes. “Before I went to medical school, I loved to draw and paint, but I no longer had time when I got to med school. I was able to learn by creating anatomy illustrations. People loved my notes. They would often ask, ‘Where did you get this?’” Thus starting Jeboda on her artistic journey.

Initially, she showcased her art on Instagram, but after realizing how helpful it was for other students, she opened Jenn Med Art where she sells her hand-drawn anatomy art pieces.

Today, Jeboda is a family medicine resident with a unique passion for blending art and medicine. With extensive clinical experience in underserved rural communities, she brings both knowledge and compassion to her work. She is dedicated to advancing healthcare education and improving patient understanding through the power of art. “Creating art brings me immense joy, especially knowing it enhances the understanding of anatomy and medicine.”

Jeboda is expanding her creativity and outreach. Currently, she is writing and illustrating children’s books. She is working on two – the ABCs of the anatomy and a rhyming book on the anatomy.

Jeboda has advice for TFS students: “Do not be afraid to stand out. Do not be afraid to be you,” she said. “People will see your uniqueness, and that will take you so far – just being you!”
