George Ketch signs track & field LOI with Berry College

Tallulah Falls senior George Ketch, of Clarkesville, signed his national letter of intent with Berry College on Tuesday, May 17. The track and field standout for the Indians will pursue his academic and athletic career in Mount Berry for the Vikings, who reside in the Southern Athletic Association as part of NCAA Division III.

“We are excited to welcome George to our program,” says Berry College coach Luke Syverson. “Despite not having some of the numbers and PR’s our typical thrower has, he has a lot of upside and potential. With the ability to continue to learn the events and train all year, we are confident he will only get better. We have a strong and deep throws group and George will only add to that, especially knowing the type of student and individual graduates from Tallulah Falls tend to be.”

Ketch competed in both discus and shot put events during his time at TFS.

“George has an incredible opportunity to continue his education and compete for the Berry Vikings,” adds TFS track and field coach and Athletic Director Scott Neal. “He can be remembered for a long time as someone who took that opportunity to contribute to the life of Berry, both in the pursuit of advanced learning and in the quest to see how good he can become in the throws. George is focused and steady, two traits that certainly will serve him well as he continues his throwing career.”

Ketch, who signed his LOI with family and friends in attendance, is excited for this opportunity.

“I am extremely excited to be furthering my academic career, and my track and field career at Berry College,” states Ketch. “I want to thank my track coaches, and parents for helping me get to where I am today.”

Ketch becomes Tallulah Falls’ tenth college signee to pursue athletics at the next level, which is a school record for one year.
